Tulsa Public School
When designing the new website for Tulsa Public Schools, ensuring accessibility was a paramount objective from the outset. The goal was to create an online platform that could be seamlessly navigated and comprehended by individuals with diverse abilities, adhering to the highest standards of inclusivity and equal access to information. We also wanted to make sure we featured the districts school pillars and district events for faculty and students.
The Challenge
The school emphasized wanting the site to meet accessibility standards, but also recently added in a series of bright colors into the branding. A challenge with this design was to incorporate the colors in a way that would still be compliant but also still give the website a pop of color and fun to express the lively nature of the school district. There was a need for the site to be useful for faculty and staff but still tell the districts story and feature some fun elements.
The Solution
We decided to incorporate the Tulsa colors via the border of the site and use the colors as more of an accent, in order to keep the site compliant. We also decided to create a section of quick-links to include under the slider above the fold for common links that users of the site use most.
Responsive Design
A responsive design ensures that the website adapts seamlessly to different screen sizes and resolutions, providing an optimal viewing experience across all platforms. Additionally, careful consideration must be given to navigation menus, content hierarchy, and interactive elements, ensuring they remain intuitive and accessible regardless of the device being used. Implementing responsive design principles not only enhances the user experience but also demonstrates the school’s commitment to embracing modern technology and catering to the diverse preferences of its audience.
The Results
Upon visiting the website, users are immediately immersed in a visually striking environment that exudes the school’s distinct brand identity. Vibrant imagery and thoughtfully crafted content work in harmony to convey the institution’s unique character, curriculum offerings, and campus life experiences. The intuitive navigation and responsive design ensure a consistent and engaging experience across all devices, catering to the diverse needs of prospective families, current students, alumni, and faculty members.
